Islington Young Actors Theatre - February 2010

image

Outside-In worked with the Young Actors Theater on their ‘urban’ version of ‘Grimm Tales’, a selection of fairy tales written by the ‘Brothers Grimm’ in 1812.

Seven graffiti backdrops, one for each fairy tale, were painted live on stage as the young actors performed.

Hats off to the magnificently talented young people of YAT.

Check the video at the bottom of this post to see them in action and their website here: http://www.yati.org.uk/

St Monica’s Catholic Primary School - October 2009.

At St Monica’s we worked with a class of twenty-seven 8 - 10 year olds to create a mural on the ‘Every Child Matters’ theme. We aimed for the mural to be an expression of the identities of the children at St Monica’s.

We began by discussing the theme with the class. Once everybody had a clear and mutual understanding of what was to be accomplished the class brainstormed ideas, which they then developed on paper to become a part of the mural.

Images of flags and heritage were mixed with illustrations of what the children were passionate about, and were looking forward to in their lives: travel, sport and exercise, food, dancing, music, reading, the natural world and family life.

The wall was finished in three days. Everybody involved enjoyed the project and the playground looks amazing!
